SEA AGM 2008

Dear Members and Possible New Members

Attached is the agenda for the AGM on the 22nd of October at SARDI’s Lecture Theatre at West Beach in Adelaide.

The AGM is due to commence at 13:15 but we’ve got sandwiches and coffee/tea on from 12:30. You are also invited to come along in the morning to participate in the Seafood Promotion Act Reference Group Meeting which includes a presentation by the DAFF General Manager Levies, Contracts & Services.

The Reference Group Meeting is starting with a blank sheet of paper – it’s not about prescribing a levy arrangement but rather determining whether industry is wanting to see the promotion of seafood in a similar way to what’s happening with meat and vegetable produce marketing, or something different, or nothing at all. We’re looking for the broadest possible cross section of opinion and contribution as our seafood sectors are not all the same. This will be a watershed meeting for the industry if industry wants it to be one.

The AGM is also important. We’ve got some directors reaching the end of their appointment period and the opportunity to see some new blood on the Board, and renewed enthusiasm, should not be lost. If you’re interested, or know someone that might be interested, please let me know the names and I’ll get in contact to explain what’s involved.
